Why did the software update not start for my Lincoln?
A scheduled software update may not start if your vehicle was not turned off, was not in park, or the doors were open.
Software Update Preconditions
The following items must be completed before attempting the next scheduled software update, or you may receive an error message:
- Gas vehicles must be on and running for at least 30 minutes before initiating a software update.
- Your vehicle is parked, and the parking brake is engaged.
- The hazard indicators are switched off.
- The vehicle's alarm is not sounding.
- Your vehicle's ignition is off.
- All your doors, the hood, and the trunk are closed.
- Your headlights are turned off.
- Your hybrid vehicle is not charging.
- There is no emergency call in progress.
- Your vehicle is not in limp home mode. If your vehicle is in limp home mode, contact your Lincoln Retailer or Ford Dealer.
If any of the above conditions are not met, you will receive a "Vehicle Not Updated" message on your vehicle's screen. Address the reason contained in the message before the next scheduled update.
Vehicle Software Update Limitations
Once you begin a scheduled software update that requires your vehicle to be parked, you cannot:
- Cancel the update.
- Enter your vehicle unless you have a key blade. You can open the doors using the mechanical latch if child locks are not on.
- Use the remote control to lock, unlock, or start your vehicle.
- Drive your vehicle.
- Charge your vehicle. Charging resumes once the update completes.
If you are still receiving error messages regarding the failed update, contact the Lincoln Client Relationship Centre at 1-800-387-9333 or select Chat Now on the Contact Us page of lincolncanada.com.
