How do I change the automatic software update settings in my Lincoln?

You can adjust your vehicle's software update settings using your SYNC®* or Digital Experience* touchscreen, or the Lincoln Way™ app**.

Notes: 

  • Your vehicle will arrive with automatic updates enabled. Lincoln recommends keeping automatic updates turned on for the best ownership experience.

Changing the Automatic Software Update Settings

Important: Ensure your vehicle is running and in Park (P) in an open, well-ventilated, and safe area.

Select the method you are using from the drop-down options below to learn how to adjust your Software Update settings. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.

Note: Actual screens may vary. See your Owner’s Manual for information specific to your vehicle.

Identifying Your Lincoln's SYNC Generation

Select a resource in the table below to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation.

The SYNC and Navigation Updates page

Either:

  • Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for update.
  • Log in with your Lincoln credentials, choose a vehicle from your garage, and select Check for updates.

Your SYNC generation will appear on the right side of the page.

Lincoln Digital Experience

  1. Tap the App Drawer icon on your vehicle's Digital Experience screen.
  2. Select Software Updates.
  3. Press the Settings icon.
  4. Toggle the Automatic updates slider to your preference.

Notes: 

  • If both Automatic Updates and Notifications are off, your vehicle will not receive any updates. 
  • If Automatic Updates are off, but your Notifications are on, you will not receive software updates automatically. You will be prompted to accept the updates.

SYNC 4

  1. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Software Updates. 
  3. Toggle the Automatic updates slider to your preference.

Note: 

  • If both Automatic Updates and Notifications are off, your vehicle will not receive any updates. 
  • If Automatic Updates are off, but your Notifications are on, you will not receive software updates automatically. You will be prompted to accept the updates.

Lincoln Way app

  1. Log in to the Lincoln Way app.
  2. Tap the Vehicle tab. 
  3. Select Software Updates.
  4. Toggle the Automatic updates slider to your preference.
