How do I accept software updates for my Lincoln?

You can accept software updates by selecting Continue when prompted on your vehicle's screen. This will take you to the Software Update menu, where you can complete the acceptance process.

If either of the following icons appears on your vehicle's screen, you need to accept a software update.

Software Update Available and Requires Scheduling icon: Arrow pointing down to a tray next to a clock. An update is available but needs to be scheduled.
Software update Available but Needs Your Permission icon: Arrow pointing down to a tray next to a lock. An update is available but needs your permission to proceed.

Accepting Software Updates

Select your SYNC®* generation or Lincoln Digital Experience from the drop-down options below to learn how to accept software updates. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option. 

Note: Instructions may vary. Refer to your Owner’s Manual for information specific to your vehicle.

Identifying Your Lincoln's SYNC Generation

Either:

  • Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for update.
  • Log in with your Lincoln credentials, choose a vehicle from your garage, and select Check for updates.

Your SYNC generation will appear on the right side of the page.

Lincoln Digital Experience

Option 1

  1. Tap the Update Available icon in the status bar on your vehicle's Digital Experience screen.
  2. Select Update to accept the update.

Option 2

  1. Tap on the App Drawer icon.
  2. Select Software updates.
  3. Press Update Details.
  4. Tap Update to accept the update

Important: If Automatic Updates and Notifications are off, your vehicle will not receive any updates. This means your vehicle will not receive any new features or critical updates via software updates.

SYNC 4

Option 1

  1. Press the Update Available icon in the status bar on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Choose Update Available.
  3. Tap Update to accept the update.

Option 2

  1. Select Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Choose System Updates.
  3. Press Update Details.
  4. Tap Update to accept the update.

Important: If Automatic Updates and Notifications are off, your vehicle will not receive any updates. This means your vehicle will not receive any new features or critical updates via Software Updates.
