How do I adjust the navigation volume with SYNC?
You can change the volume of the SYNC®* Navigation directional prompts while a navigation prompt is playing, using the instructions contained in this article.
Adjusting the Route Guidance Prompt Volume
Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to change your SYNC Navigation prompt volume. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.
Notes:
- The navigation volume can only be adjusted while the navigation is in use.
- Instructions may vary. Refer to your Owner's Manual for information specific to your vehicle.

Change the volume while a guidance prompt is playing by either:
- Using the volume controls Vol+ or Vol- on your steering wheel.
- Turning the audio volume control knob located on the centre console.
Note: Navigation voice prompts cannot be enabled or disabled. They are always on. However, the volume of the prompts can be adjusted.

Before adjusting your navigation volume, ensure you enable the navigation voice prompts:
- Press Settings.
- Select Navigation.
- Choose Navigation Preferences.
- Set Guidance Prompts to Voice and Tones.
To adjust the navigation voice volume, change the volume while a guidance prompt is playing by either:
- Using the volume controls Vol+ or Vol- on your steering wheel.
- Turning the audio volume control knob located on the centre console.
Note: The SYNC voice that you interact with when controlling climate, phone, entertainment, and media devices can be adjusted separately from the Navigation System voice that guides turn-by-turn directions.
SYNC with MyLincoln Touch
Before adjusting your SYNC with MyLincoln Touch® navigation volume, ensure you enable the navigation voice prompts:
- Tap the Gear icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select Settings.
- Press Navigation.
- Choose Navigation Preferences.
- Set Guidance Prompts to Voice and Tones.
To adjust the navigation voice volume:
- Start a route on your navigation system.
- Press the Repeat Last Step icon in the top right (the arrow in a circle next to Menu).
- Turn the audio volume control knob to your desired level while the guidance prompt is playing.
SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation
Before adjusting your navigation volume, ensure you enable the navigation voice prompts:
- Press the Nav button on the centre console.
- Select Navigation Prefs on the left side of your SYNC screen.
- Set the Guidance Prompts settings to Voice.
To adjust the navigation voice volume:
- Press the Menu button.
- Select Feedback Settings on the left side.
- Adjust the Voice Volume setting to the desired level.
SYNC P Navigation
- Press the Menu button on the centre console.
- Select Feedback on the top row of the display screen.
- Set the Navigation Guidance option to On.
- Adjust the Voice Volume with the + and - buttons.
Note: Selecting Test will send out a sound at the current volume level.
