How do I temporarily disable Automatic Engine Shutdown in my Lincoln?

The Automatic Engine Shutdown*, or Automatic Engine Stop, is a feature that switches the engine off if it has been idling for an extended period to help you save fuel. You can temporarily disable the feature using your vehicle's SYNC®** screen or the information display, depending on your SYNC software version.

Note: You cannot permanently switch off the Automatic Engine Shutdown/Stop feature. When you switch it off temporarily, it turns on the next time you start your vehicle.

Turning Off Automatic Engine Shutdown/Stop

Either:

  • Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for update.
  • Log in with your Lincoln credentials, choose a vehicle from your garage, and select Check for updates.

Using Your SYNC Screen

  1. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Vehicle.
  3. Toggle the 30min Max Idle slider to Off.

Using Your Information Display

  1. Scroll to Settings using the left-hand steering wheel control.
  2. Press OK to select Vehicle.
  3. De-select the Auto Engine off box.
