FAQs
What is Grand Touring?
These plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) models combine the power of a gas engine with advanced battery-powered technology to deliver an effortless, exhilarating drive.
How does a Lincoln plug-in hybrid electric vehicle work?
Lincoln plug-in hybrid electric vehicles offer the best of both worlds, combining gas and electric to offer powerful performance. Preserve EV mode allows you to power your vehicle using gas while actively recharging your battery, and Pure EV mode allows you to drive using only electricity, engaging your hybrid gas engine should your power demands exceed electric capability.
Where can Lincoln plug-in hybrid vehicles be charged?
You can charge at home using a dedicated 120V or 240V electric outlet or at charging stations. When locating a charging location, be sure to identify those that offer alternating current (AC) charging. Currently, Lincoln plug-in hybrid models cannot accept a direct current (DC) charge.
What are the advantages of a Lincoln plug-in hybrid vehicle over a gas vehicle?
Lincoln plug-in hybrid electric vehicles offer all the advantages of a gas-powered engine with added perks, including potentially fewer trips to the fuel pump, smooth, quiet acceleration and additional drive modes.
What type of charging connector do Lincoln Grand Touring vehicles utilize?
Lincoln Grand Touring models utilize the standard J1772 connector and are compatible with thousands of third-party charging stations across the nation.
What are the at-home electrical requirements for proper charging?
You will need a grounded and dedicated 15- or 20-amp AC breaker, if using 120V dedicated line, serving a grounded three-prong outlet for proper charging. Failure to have a dedicated line, other appliances on the line, using an extension cord with the charger, using a surge protector, or adding a timer and other adapters can result in electric shock, fire and/or repeated breaker trips. Contact a professional licensed electrician for proper installation of a dedicated 120V or 240V line.
