How do I find the Gross Combination Weight Rating of my Lincoln?

The Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR), also referred to as the Gross Combined Weight Rating, of a vehicle is the maximum allowable weight of the vehicle, cargo, passengers, and trailer combined.

The GCWR is determined by several factors: vehicle, engine, transmission, axle ratio, optional equipment, and trailer hitch type used (e.g., weight distributing, non-weight distributing, or gooseneck).

Calculating the GCWR

  1. Access the RV & Trailer Towing Guide website.
  2. Select the following information:
    • Make
    • Year
    • Model
    • Trim (if available)
  3. Press Search.
  4. Scroll down to the RV & Trailer Towing Guides section, and click on the model-year towing guide listed.
  5. Locate the Trailer Towing Selector section for your vehicle.
  6. Find the Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight.
  7. Add the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and the Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight. This will be your vehicle's GCWR.

Important:

  • The towing vehicle’s brake system is rated for operation at the GVWR, not the GCWR. Separate functional brake systems should be used for safe control of towed vehicles and trailers weighing more than 1,500 lbs. when loaded.
  • The measured Gross Combination Weight (GCW) must never exceed the GCWR.

If you need additional assistance calculating your GCWR or information regarding equipment, contact your preferred Lincoln Retailers.
